We were so bored one our last flight we wrote this post to pass the time.
1. Strike up a conversation with your neighbor
Young men love sports while older men love politics and business. Young girls love fashion and entertainment while older women love talking about family. You can never go wrong in these four topics. If they seem interested, fish around for their passion and get engaged in a conversation. You will be surprised at how quickly the hours pass if you have someone to talk to in a plane.
2. Ensure you are comfortable enough for sleeping
Ask the cabin crew for additional pillow if you have to, but make sure you are comfortable. Trust me; you can sleep like a baby during the whole flight if you are comfortable.
3. Carry along your favorite book
By the time you are tired of reading your favorite book, you will be ready for a long uninterrupted sleep. Reading a book is a great way to pass time as well as induce some sleep.
4. If you love music, have your iPod with you
Frankly speaking, I did not consider this a good way to pass time on the plane until one of my friends told me he can listen to music for 5 straight hours without getting bored. If you are like him, then pack your iPod and listen to your favorite music throughout the flight.
5. Flirt with the cabin crew
I have a crazy friend who tells me that his method of passing the time on the plane is flirting with the crew. Of course he is not married and he has nothing to lose. I would not be caught doing this, but perhaps you are more like him, so go ahead...I am reliably told that they also love it - it helps them avoid the plane routine.
To avoid bad mood and jetlag, keep hydrated by drinking lots of water and standing up once in a while to ensure proper circulation. Maybe my list will help you, or, you will create your own to help keep boredom at bay when traveling over long distances.
