Belize is adventure tourism

Apart from the fact that the country speaks English, and thus it is attractive to all tourists from English speaking nations, Belize is endowed with some of the most beautiful adventure destinations in the world. It is very hard to mention adventure tourism and fail to include Belize as one of the greatest adventure tourism nations in the world. Highlighted below are some of these destinations.

1. The Great Blue Hole

This is a massive sinkhole located off the coast of Belize, near the Lighthouse Reef. It is especially popular with divers who come to see the stalactites and limestone ecosystem that is maintained in the hole. The clear turquoise waters are an added advantage for the snorkelers in their attempt to discover what lies deep into the sinkhole.

2. Caye Caulker

This is a small coral island located in Belize. It is famous among the beach sports lovers as its waters are ideal for swimming and in some months for surfing. The island has some well-defined paths that can take you around the island while enjoying the beautiful views. If you love riding bicycles or playing golf, then you will have gone to the right place.

3. Caracol

I sincerely hope that you love the Mayan history like I do, because this destination is all about the Mayans. Located on top of Vaca Plateau at about 500 meters (1650 ft.) above sea level, this is the largest Mayan site in Belize and it awaits your exploration.

4. Lamanai

This Mayan city was still occupied by the Maya when the Spanish came calling - this is why it still retains the original name. It is one of those sites that entices you to delve deeper into a civilization that has had so much impact on Latin America

5. Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary

If you love the wild, you cannot have it better than this. If you want to see the Central American bird species as well as other wildlife, you stand a better chance here than in any other place. I hope you are lucky to get a glimpse of at least one jaguar. 60 of Belize’s 700 jaguars live in this conservation.

What else can you ask for if a country has beautiful beaches, exotic wildlife, a host of adventure activities and most importantly speaks a language that you can speak?
