Top 5 Budget Friendly Restaurants in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is one of the best cities to live in, tour, and do business. However, it has a prohibitive cost of living that budget tourists might find it too pricey to foot. However, I have done a little research and found that most of the expenses go to food and accommodation. Transport, shopping and sightseeing costs are not very high and thus if you can find a way to cut costs on food and accommodation, then you will enjoy Hong Kong just as the rich does.
Below is a list of budget friendly restaurants that will go a long way in cutting your food budget when touring the city.
1. Tak Fat Beef Ball
This is a small noodle stall tucked away from the undiscerning eye on the Haiphong Road Temporary Market. It has been in operation for 30 years and its top dish is the beef balls that are served in a broth of your choice of noodles, and optional beef tripe or brisket. This dish will set you back about US$5.
2. Tsui Wah
The menu of this restaurant reads like a food festival in Hong Kong. Take a look: toast with condensed milk, sweetened milk tea, Swiss chicken wings, curried beef brisket with rice, Hainan chicken rice, beef with tomatoes, macaroni noodles in soup with preserved vegetables, and instant noodles with a variety of toppings - Don't tell me that your mouth is not already watering...if it is not, then you just need to go and have a taste at this restaurant...None of the dish will take you back more than US$10.
3. Tung Po
This is the restaurant where you sample some of the best Chinese seafood in Hong Kong. Among the dishes to expect here include; the deep-fried pig's trotters, razor clams served with black bean sauce, squid ink pasta with cuttlefish balls, and fried chicken with garlic.
When you thought that there is no cuisine that can surprise you, the Chinese goes ahead and brings a mix that will amaze most-a-food-critic. The crabs served here are added spices such as garlic, chilies, black beans and spring onions and a little bit of white ice - the resultant delicacy is something you will want to have every day for the rest of your life.
5. ABC Kitchen
Located near the Queen Street Cooked Food Market, this restaurant has carved a name for itself among the Hong Kong Diners with its delicacies that includes; roast suckling pig, beef Wellington, braised lamb shank and dessert soufflés. The meats are cooked western style with some Chinese twist to bring out a taste that is neither Chinese nor Western.
Try as much as you can to save money on food in Hong Kong so that you can use the money on other fun activities that are available in the city.
