Street food, the new generation of hawker chefs in Singapore

Look, it does not help to spend your hard earned cash paying for something that you can buy on the street at a bargain. Enter Singapore and you will realize just how the dining scene has changed courtesy of the hawker chefs. Today, you don't need to go to the high-end restaurant to experience authentic Singaporean cuisine. It has been brought to the street.

Among the best places to sample hawker chefs' signature dishes include the Yusheng Food Center at Jurong. The center was established back in 1971. Today, it is home to over 15,000 food stalls.

Other food hawker centers include;

  • Maxwell Food Centre in Shenton Way
  • Newton Food Centre and
  • Chomp Chomp Food Centre in Serangoon Gardens

Some of the foods hawked on the streets include prata, laksa, char kway teow, chicken rice, and many more. Some of these dishes go for as little as US$2.5. Imagine eating to your feel for just US$2.5...You've got to agree this is the best bargain you've ever had in your life.

Both budget travellers and well-heeled travellers find the street food an interesting phenomenon that has gripped Singapore, to their advantage. Welcome to Singapore for your most interesting dining experience yet!
