Feel the cool breeze of Mystical Sagada

If you like traveling off the unbeaten path and discover natural wonders that exude a mystical atmosphere, you must head off to Sagada! Often called the “Shire of the Philippines”, Sagada  is a special place that will make adventure lovers swoon with delight.

Located in the Mountain Province, it is about an eight and a half drive from Manila where the main international airport is located. The ride might be rough but for adventure lovers, the ride is like going through hell to reach heaven! You know you are near Sagada when the heat from the lowlands turns into a refreshing and cool climate. Lush green vegetation and majestic mountains are the first things you will notice, as well as friendly locals who would gladly talk to you about their culture and traditions.

There are so many activities you can enjoy in Sagada such as spelunking in Sumaguing Cave. The cave system will test your mettle, and will awe you with its spectacular rock formations. The most popular tourist attraction is the hanging coffins. These are coffins hanging on the cliffs of Sagada, still containing the dead, a reminder of the culture and tradition of the locals.  Located just a few meters from the hanging caves is the Lumiang Burial Cave where stacks of coffins are squeezed into the wedges of the cave. You can also take a refreshing dip in the cold waters of Bomod-ok Water Falls.

Sagada is not for the faint hearted, it is an adventurer’s sanctuary. If you are longing for an adventure that is mystifying and enchanting, you must  put a trip to Sagada on top of your list!
