Travel agents meet our new customers.

Millennials rising. Survey: says millennials want luxury, convenience and service when it comes to travel.

Based on what millennials want travel agents are perfectly positioned to tap this market.

The millennials born between 1981 and 1995 have been called many things some positive some negative, however no matter how you slice it they are the new dominent travel consumer.

So here are somethings we all need to know in order to properly cultivate them as customers.

1. Their are now more of them than baby boomers

2. They are also referred to as the " now generation "

3. They demand real time and instant information

4. They trust peers more than brands

5. They are social creatures on and offline

6. Millennials use shorter booking windows average is 75 days as opposed to 93 for boomers

7. They want luxury. A new survey by chase card services reported they prefer hotels with dry cleaning and spa services.

8. They are well travelled. Remember they are growing up as kids of the wealthiest demographic in history.

9. They reject the cookie cutter out of the box travel experience. Millennials seek authentic local experiences.

10. Millennials want to consume content and communicate with brands ( agents ) the same way they interact with friends. IE Text, instant message, social media, mobile app etc.

Heres my take on the millennials. Millennials are ripe for the traditional travel agent to service if approached taking into consideration the above.

Why? Millennials love being looked after, serviced, made feel special etc.

Postion yourself as their go to person ( concierge ) for travel and watch what happens.

Remember they are so busy multitasking how could they possible have the time to book travel.
