Hi Ryan it's Silicon Valley calling

In most cases, startups built outside of Silicon Valley dream of getting calls from this magical place where Billion dollar valuations are realized.  After a 3 year grind,a couple pivots and some sleepless nights, we are starting to get some very intriguing calls about our big bet on the travel agent.

Although I have received only a handful of calls from this magical start up land, it's incredible the amount of value I have received.

Here are a couple of things my loose relationship with the Valley has taught me:

1. Why is Silicon Valley so successful? It's the people, they are connectors. I have honestly grown my network by 40 C level executives by taking 5 phone calls.

2. Ideas are irrelevant, everyone has them, they are a dime a dozen. Show the Valley an idea with execution and a large market and ears start to perk up.

3. The Valley still has some love for travel startups. Honestly, this surprised me as I thought they would have seen it all and would have no interest,

4. The Valley loves SaaS business's because of their predictable revenue and ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue).

5. The Valley loves companies that solve business problems. Furthermore, if your startup has exposure to both business's and end consumers, you get extra marks.

The Travel Valet is still early in its relationship with the Valley, however, so far so great.
