5 Reasons why Bali is not just a beach destination.

Bali is an island and a province of Indonesia. It is home to 4.2 million people, most of whom are the Hindu minority (84%). Some think that because it is an island, it just has beautiful beaches and luxury resorts (sort of like the Caribbean). This is not the case. Bali is much more than a beach. It is the capital of leisure and adventure seekers in Indonesia because of its spectacular beaches, but also because of the following reasons;

1. It boasts highly developed arts

Since the late 20th century, this island has grown from strength to strength. Its arts include; sculptures, music, metal works, painting, leather and traditional and modern dance. No other part of Indonesia can boast as much concentration of artistic talent as Bali.

2. It is part of the Coral Triangle, an area with the highest biodiversity of marine species

If you love to dive and snorkel, perhaps only the Great Barrier Reef of Australia can match what you get in the Coral Triangle. It has a whopping 500 reef building coral species (about 7 times more than the entire Caribbean). It has numerous dive sites with high quality reef systems.

3. Historical Attractions

Some of the historical attractions you will find here include; Tanah Lot Temple, Ulu Watu Temple, the scenic rice terraces of Bali, Tirtha Empul Temple, Pura Taman Ayun, Statue of Arjuna and many more

4. Sex Tourism

Despite the negative connotation to this, Bali is the number one destination for those seeking great unattached sex. The red light districts of Amsterdam and Bangkok cannot touch Bali.

5. Flora and Fauna

Due to its tropical weather, Bali is home to one of the most diverse flora and fauna species. It has over 280 birds species including dollar bird, java sparrow, yellow vented bulbul, the endangered Bali Myna, barn swallow etc. Mammals found here include; Javan rusa, wild boar, squirrels, Asian Palm civet, bats, Bali tiger and Banteng leopard and many more.
